- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Mini chocolate eggs for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla; mix well.
- Gradually stir in hot water or coffee until fully combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
- For the ganache, heat cream in a saucepan until simmering. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit before stirring until smooth. Mix in butter and allow to thicken.
- Melt dark chocolate for the nest and pipe onto parchment paper in a circular shape; refrigerate until firm.
- Once cooled, pour ganache over the cake and top with the chocolate nest filled with mini eggs.
