Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Add vanilla, mashed bananas, and sour cream. Mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add dry mixture to wet ingredients, mixing gently until combined.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla; mix until combined.
  7. Pour half of the banana batter into the pan, spread cream cheese filling over, then top with remaining batter.
  8. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
