Step-by-Step Instructions for Beef and Shells
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil, then add the medium pasta shells. Cook until just under al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced sweet onion and cook until translucent, about 2 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute.
  4. Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the sautéed aromatics, whisking constantly for about 1 minute. Gradually pour in beef stock and marinara sauce while stirring. Add Italian seasoning and bring to a boil.
  5. Once the sauce has thickened, stir in the cooked pasta shells and browned ground beef. Add heavy cream and mix until warmed through. Season with salt and pepper, then fold in sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Serve the beef and shells hot, garnished with dried parsley.

Notes

For best results, cook shells slightly under al dente, choose flavorful ground beef, and let the sauce simmer longer for thickness.
