Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the breakfast sausage, breaking it apart until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Sprinkle in the flour and cook for an additional minute, stirring constantly. Whisk in milk gradually, allowing the mixture to thicken.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes, then remove from heat.
- Cut your biscuits in half and arrange half of them in the greased baking dish. Pour half of the sausage gravy over the biscuits.
- Layer the remaining biscuit halves over the gravy and pour the rest of the sausage gravy on top.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly across the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden-brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.
