Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the breakfast sausage, breaking it apart until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle in the flour and cook for an additional minute, stirring constantly. Whisk in milk gradually, allowing the mixture to thicken.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes, then remove from heat.
  5. Cut your biscuits in half and arrange half of them in the greased baking dish. Pour half of the sausage gravy over the biscuits.
  6. Layer the remaining biscuit halves over the gravy and pour the rest of the sausage gravy on top.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly across the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden-brown and the edges are bubbling.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.
