Preparation Steps
  1. Caramelize the onions by heating oil in a skillet over low heat and cooking thinly sliced onions for about 20-30 minutes until golden brown.

  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Shape half of the mixture into a loaf, create a well, fill with grated Gruyere, and cover with the remaining mixture.
  4. Bake the meatloaf in the oven for about 1 hour until its internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing to retain moisture.
