For the Ricotta Mixture
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan cheese

For the Lasagna Layers
  • 9 sheets Cooked lasagna noodles Gluten-free options available
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup Extra grated Parmesan cheese For topping

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion, cooking for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, and sugar. Simmer for 25-30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  5. Layer the lasagna starting with a meat sauce layer, followed by lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles and meat sauce.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
