Ingredients
  

For the Pastry
  • 1 package Frozen Puff Pastry Use all-butter pastry for superior flavor.
For the Cheese Filling
  • 1 cup Gruyère Cheese Grated.
  • 1 cup Sharp White Cheddar Cheese Grated.
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese Softened.
For Flavor
  • 2 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Chives Chopped.
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper Optional.
For Binding and Baking
  • 1 ea Egg Yolks For egg wash.
  • 1 tbsp All-Purpose Flour For dusting.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine Gruyère cheese, sharp white cheddar, cream cheese, Dijon mustard, egg yolk, chives, black pepper, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle. Spread half of the cheese filling on the pastry.
  3. Roll the pastry tightly from one long edge to form a log. Use water to seal the edge.
  4. Wrap the logs in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 3 hours.
  5. Slice the logs into 1/2-inch rounds and place on a lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until puffed and golden.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
