Ingredients
  

For the Meat Mixture
  • 1 lb Ground Beef 80/20 beef for optimal texture
  • 1 lb Ground Italian Sausage can substitute for different spices
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version
  • 2 Eggs acts as a binder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 tsp Italian Seasoning can use a homemade blend
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Filling
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese can substitute with provolone or cheddar
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese can be omitted or replaced
  • 1 cup Spinach optional; can substitute with herbs
For Serving
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce any preferred tomato sauce can be used

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, stir together mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and spinach (if using) for the filling.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into a large rectangle, spread the cheese filling over it, and roll it tightly.
  5. Bake seam-side down for 45-50 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Spread marinara sauce over the meatloaf in the last 10 minutes of baking.
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
