  • 1 medium Onion Chopped, can substitute with shallots.
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic Minced, fresh preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons Taco Seasoning Homemade spice mix can be used.
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes Drain well for the best consistency.
For the Creamy Layer
  • 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup Can substitute with cream of mushroom soup.
  • 1 cup Sour Cream Greek yogurt can be used as a healthier alternative.
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Shredded, can be swapped with Monterey Jack or mozzarella.
For the Crunch
  • 2 cups Doritos Nacho Cheese Chips Any baked tortilla chip can be a milder substitute.
For Assembly
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Can use any cooking oil.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
  2. Add 2-3 cloves of minced garlic, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in 1 pound of ground beef, browning it completely while mixing in 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Incorporate 1 can of drained diced tomatoes, simmering for 2 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 can of cream of chicken soup and 1 cup of sour cream. Whisk together until smooth.
  6. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a greased baking dish, layer approximately 2 cups of crushed Doritos at the bottom.
  7. Spoon half of the beef mixture over the chips, followed by half of the creamy layer and sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Repeat the layering process for the second half of the ingredients.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.
