- Marinate the beef by combining flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, cornstarch, and baking soda. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
- While beef is marinating, slice yellow onions and mince garlic.
- Heat wok or skillet over high heat. Add vegetable oil and let it shimmer.
- Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Sear for 1-2 minutes then stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove beef from pan and set aside. In the same wok, stir-fry onions for about 3-4 minutes until translucent and caramelized.
- Push onions to the side, add minced garlic and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return the beef to the pan along with sugar and beef broth. Stir everything for 1-2 minutes until sauced.
- Drizzle sesame oil, toss to combine, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve hot.
