Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather all ingredients and equipment.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and crumble the ground sausage. Cook for about 8–10 minutes until fully browned. Drain excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, crack in the eggs and pour in the milk. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until frothy. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Take your greased baking dish and layer the thawed hash brown potatoes evenly across the bottom. Add the cooked sausage and shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Pour the prepared egg and milk mixture evenly over the layered ingredients. Gently stir to ensure even distribution without disturbing the layers too much.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is bubbly and cheese has melted.
- For a golden finish, broil the casserole for 1-2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Allow to cool for 20 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
