Meatloaf Mixture
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Aim for 90% lean
  • 1 cup Saltine Crackers Crushed, can substitute with breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg Binder for meatloaf
  • 1 medium Onion (minced) Any onion variety
  • 1/4 cup Milk Dairy-free alternatives can be used
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup Adjust quantity to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Can substitute with soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme Essential seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Essential seasoning
Assembly
  • 4 pieces Sub Rolls Quality rolls preferred
Topping
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Shredded, can substitute with mozzarella

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Split sub rolls lengthwise and arrange cut-side up on a baking sheet.
  3. Combine ground beef, crushed saltines, egg, onion, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, garlic powder, and salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Spread meatloaf mixture over cut sides of each roll and drizzle some ketchup on top.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cooked through and golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over each patty melt and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.
